Day 121 - Succeed In Life

 Focal Scripture: Luke 19:41-20:8

Hello, everyone. My name is Bryan, and welcome to Bible Scoop. Today, we turn our heads towards the scripture of the first day of the Passion Week, which is the chapter of Luke, its 19th chapter, verses 41, until the next chapter, 20, verses 1-8. https://www.bible.com/bible/296/LUK.19.41-46 https://www.bible.com/bible/296/LUK.20.1-8

From this scripture, we are only going to focus on chapter 19, verses 41-44 and chapter 20, verses 1-8. In this scripture, we can see Jesus Christ, after his Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem, weeping about what was going to happen to Jerusalem first. And secondly, Jesus Christ holding back against the question brought up by the Pharisees. Jesus Christ, through this scripture, is trying to bring to light what we have to do as Christians and what we should not do as Christians.

Firstly, Jesus Christ, when he was weeping about what was going to happen to Jerusalem, he truly was weeping for us. Jerusalem is his dwelling place (Psalm 132:13-14 https://www.bible.com/bible/296/PSA.132.13-14), and we live with him as Jesus said, (“Remain in me, as I also remain in you” (John 15:4) and that He came “that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10)”). So we live with him and when he was
weeping about the destruction and chaos that was going to fall upon Jerusalem, he meant it was coming to us, who are living in Jerusalem.

He, technically, through this scripture, is telling us that we have to lead a proper life, a life with God. God was telling us that whenever he gives us blessings, we enjoy them and we don’t give thanks to God. We enjoy all of it, and at the end, on Judgment Day, we won't be ready to accept Jesus as proper children of God with faith or spirituality.

In this scripture, he was referring to the people of that time when they had God in front of their eyesight but did not see him, his glory and crucified him. (”because you did not recognize the time when God came to save you!”). We have to be ready faithfully and spiritually for the second coming of Jesus, and that is what Jesus Christ is implying to what we have to do as Christians.

Secondly, we can see the chief priests and teachers of the law questioning Jesus about his authority to preach the Word of God to the people. Jesus, through this incident of questioning, is telling us that we should not be like these chief priests and teachers of the law, as we should not question our Almighty about his actions or decisions or ever his authority, as it is always and guaranteed for the better good.

Jesus Christ clearly tells us not to be like chief priests, Pharisees, etc. in another scripture of today’s Lectionary (Matthew 23:1-8 https://www.bible.com/bible/296/MAT.23.1-8) where it is listed clearly all the evil and wicked practices practiced by these chief priests, Pharisees, etc. that we Christians should definitely not follow or do.

So friends from today onwards, let us not forget one of the main things a Christian living with God should do and one of the main things a Christian should definitely not follow. Let us not forget to not give a chance for Jesus to weep, thinking about our devastated state, but give him a chance to be joyful seeing our spiritual life with God. And, let us always be ready for the second coming of Jesus spiritually and faithfully. Let us also not follow any of the filthy actions of the Pharisees, etc., one of them being, questioning our Almighty’s authority. Let us also not forget that if we do these things, we, as Christians leading a life of Christianity, will for sure, SUCCEED IN LIFE!
