Day 116 - The Token Of Eternal Life
Focal Scripture: Luke 2:22-40
Hello everyone, my name is Bryan and welcome to Bible Scoop. Today, we turn our heads to the focal scripture of the Entry of our Lord into the Temple which is, Luke, chapter 2 verses, 22-40. https://www.bible.com/bible/296/LUK.2.22-40.GNBUK
In this scripture, we see the Entry of our Lord into the Temple. And we might just see it as Jesus Christ’s parents offering him to God as he is the firstborn son. But in reality, God, through this scripture, is trying to tell us two vital things. Let’s look into it.
Number one, this scripture points out what is written in the law of the Lord which is, “Every firstborn male is to be dedicated to the Lord. What God means through this is that according to him, Israelites are his firstborn son as said in Exodus 4:21-23. And this was meant to us, how?
Because, we refer to as Israelites, chosen people of God, or in other words Christians. And when God said that the firstborn son is to be dedicated to the Lord, he was not asking for much. He’s just asking us to go to church every Sunday without fail and attend the Holy Mass. And to be honest, that’s not a big of an ask. If we cannot even do this, why do we call ourselves Christians? In the first place the reason, why we call ourselves Christians is because we believe in Christ and follow him to eternity.
Number two, this scripture also gives us a hint on how to receive the Holy Spirit. If you look closely, when the Scripture was talking about Simeon they said that he was a good and God-fearing man and that the Holy Spirit was with him. So technically for us to receive the Holy Spirit we have to be good, follow all the instructions Jesus has given us through the Scriptures and be a God-fearing person, understanding that God is the supreme ruler of all and without his love, we would not be alive.
So friends from today onwards, let us remember the reason why we call ourselves Christians and let us remember to not miss a day of the Holy Mass. In addition, let us not forget the ways to receive the Holy Spirit. As a matter of fact, let us not forget any of this till our death as this for sure will give us, THE TOKEN OF ETERNAL LIFE!
