Day 106 - Promised Reward

 Focal Scripture: Matthew 10:5-16

Hello everyone, my name is Bryan and welcome to Bible Scoop. Today, we are turning our heads into the book of Matthew, its 10th chapter verses, 5-16. Let’s head into it. https://www.bible.com/bible/296/MAT.10.5-16

In this scripture, we see Jesus send his twelve disciples on a mission. And through the instruction Jesus is giving his disciples, we can understand a lot of things. Today, we are going to understand this scripture through three different parts. The first part is from verses, 5-8. The second part is from verses, 9-10. And, the third part is from verses, 11-16. Let’s get into it.

In the first part, Jesus Christ is telling us to not take the wrong path or the most enjoyable path but take the path where the lost sheep are, the lost sheep who have turned their backs towards God. And, God is also saying to bring those lost sheep with us to the path leading to God (proclaiming the Word of God to the lost sheep). Now we might be wondering, how does the path of God come to us? The answer is: by proclaiming the Word of God; when we do so, the Holy Spirit comes to us, and all we have to know is that the Holy Spirit is the path of God.

God is also telling us in this part to heal the sick, heal their diseases etc. Now we might be wondering, how will we heal the sick and all that? The answer is: we just have to proclaim the Word of God to them because when they hear Jesus Christ's name the Holy Spirit enters them and the Holy Spirit will surely heal them. And, we also have to do this without expecting anything back, this is the right thing to do.

In the second part, Jesus Christ is telling us that we don’t need money or anything/we should not have a want for money or worldly things, because God will provide what is needed at the right time. And God is telling us that all we have to do is just be faithful servants of God and love him.

Now, to the third part. This part is the part where God wanted to tell us the main thing (or technically this is the most important part of this scripture). And, in this part, we are only focusing on verses, 14-16. Now, before we get into the main thing God wanted to tell us (which is verse 14) let us first understand verses 15 and 16.

Verse 15 means that we have to love everyone equally because as we are living in a town and as Christians we have to welcome each other. We should not only welcome the people that we know, but also the people that need our help, and we have to comfort them (proclaim the Word of God, because the scripture of God is the best comfort ever). And let us understand that we will be rewarded for this.

Now, verse 16 means that we should be cautious of the various temptations that are going to be in front of us and that we should be gentle too, meaning that we should forgive and be the right believers of Christ.

Now, for the main thing God wanted to tell us. The main thing is that whatever problems or sad times we have, we have to keep on moving towards the path of God. And before we start moving we have to make sure that we throw the sadness/experience away. And as Jesus Christ has assured us, we will surely get a reward if we sacrifice our lives and proclaim the Word of God to the lost sheep.

Now, we might not get that reward in this world, but after we pass away and when we open our eyes and see Heaven and God on his glorious throne, we know that we have received our reward.

So friends from today onwards, let us make sure to understand all of this God has told us today, the second Sunday after Pentecost. Let us also make sure to throw our sadness away and keep on moving for our saviour. Let us also remember that when we do so, we can know for a fact that we surely do have a, PROMISED REWARD!
