Day 99 - Gospel Saturday: Believe His Resurrection

 Focal Scripture: Matthew 27:62-66

Hey everyone, my name is Bryan and welcome to Bible Scoop. Today, we are at the last day of Lent, this day as we know is called Gospel Saturday. The focal scripture of today is in the book of Matthew, its 27th chapter verses, 62-66. Let’s head into it. https://www.bible.com/bible/296/MAT.27.62-66

In this scripture, we can see the unbelief of the Pharisees about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Today, we’re going to again see why we should not follow the Pharisees and that God is telling us a reminder from this scripture. Let’s get into it.

Now, as we know the Pharisees are sending guards to the tomb where Jesus Christ was buried because they think that because Jesus Christ said that he would resurrect three days later, it would not actually happen and that the disciples is going to take the body and say to everyone that he has resurrected. They technically think that all of this is a lie.

Now, this is the reminder. The reminder is that we have to believe in Jesus Christ’s death on the cross and that he did surely resurrect from death. And, that we should not follow the Pharisees. Now, right now we might be thinking, what if this is not the truth? This is the answer: this is the truth, and that is why it is mentioned in the Bible because everything that is in the Bible is the truth because the Bible is Christ. And, he is surely the truth.

Fine, if we still don’t believe it, there is proof. Proof that is written by Flavius Josephus around AD 93-94. This is what Josephus wrote in Book 18: Jesus was the Messiah and a wise teacher who was crucified by Pontius Pilate. He also says: Jesus died after being condemned to the cross. So, isn’t the Bible and Flavius Josephus’s proof enough for us to believe? It has to be. But, guess what, the Pharisees did not believe even though they saw the death of our Lord with their own eyes.

We might be asking, why do we have to believe all of this? The reason is that when we believe our faith grows, now what is faith? Faith is love that we have towards God. Okay, now if we think about it, God send his only Son to this wicked world so that we might come back to God and be purified from sin that was stopping us from coming to our Lord God Almighty and loving him.

So friends from today onwards, let us make sure to do this reminder. Because, when we do, our love towards God grows and that’s all God wanted from the beginning, the love towards God. And, let’s know that God does obviously deserve love from us. Let me tell you why: he sent his only son to get crucified just for us, without him we would not even wake up today, without him we would still be corrupt to sin. So, let’s remember that today in this Gospel Saturday, God is telling us that ‘it is the absolute best if we BELIEVE IN HIS RESURRECTION!’
