Day 94 - What God Requires of Us
Focal Scripture: Matthew 23:1-12
Hello everyone, my name is Bryan and welcome to Bible Scoop. Today, we jump into the book of Matthew, its 23rd chapter verses, 1-12. Let’s head into it. https://www.bible.com/bible/296/MAT.23.1-12
In this scripture, we can see Jesus talking about the bad things the Pharisees and the Teachers of the Law are doing. Today, we are going to talk about the things that we should not do and how we can live in accordance with God's will. Let’s go.
The things we should not do are the same exact actions that the Pharisees/the Teachers of the Law are doing (mentioned in the scripture). We might be wondering why because all of the actions that are done by these Pharisees/the teachers of the Law are the exact opposite of what God wants us to do.
God wants us to pray and not brag about it. God wants us to be humble and help people without telling anyone about what we did. But these Pharisees/Teachers of the Law does the opposite of all these things (mentioned in the Bible). Now, what are the consequences of doing this? The consequences are that we no longer appear as righteous and pleasing to God.
Second of all, let’s talk about how to be a proper Christian. I know that they're a lot of things to do to become a proper Christian, but this is one of the factors to being a proper Christian. That is to humble ourselves and lower ourselves as much as we can. Christ humbled himself by leaving so much behind to come down as a mere mortal to sacrifice himself for us. So, when we humble ourselves we are following the path of Christ, we are following the actions of Christ.
So friends from today onwards, let’s make sure to not do the things that we are not supposed to do (the actions of the Pharisees/the Teachers of the Law) and make sure to humble ourselves, the very thing that the Pharisees/Teachers of the Law could not do. Let's also remember that this is WHAT GOD REQUIRES OF US!
