Day 46 - Good Friday: His Death On The Cross
Focal Scripture: John 19:23-30
Praise the Lord and hello everyone, my name is Bryan and welcome to Bible Scoop. Before, we head into the focal scripture of today, I just want to wish all of you a Happy Good Friday. Today is the day Jesus got crucified and died. Let's now head over to the focal scripture, John 19:23-30. Let’s go. https://www.bible.com/bible/296/JHN.19.23-30
In this scripture, we see Jesus being crucified and dying for our sake. Through this scripture God is telling us that, love is measured by how much that's given up. With this in mind, it's so clear that God's love for us is infinite and indescribable as He gave up His own beloved son for our sake. He gave His son up for the forgiveness of our sins, for saving us, to let us know that He is going to save us from any danger no matter what.
Now, I'd like to take you back to Genesis 22:1-14, which is a story where God asks Abraham to sacrifice his own son, to test his faith. And when God saw the amount of faith he had when he was willing to sacrifice his only son to obey God, God provided a ram who's horns got stuck in a bush. Now, this story is relative to the crucifixion of Jesus because, us, the descendants of Abraham, sinned a lot, and was on the verge of spiritually dying. But then God forgave those sins and sent his only son down, for the forgiveness of our sins, and for us to return to God as the children he wanted us to be from the beginning of time. Jesus was the ram who was given to us to be sacrificed for the sake of the preservation of our spiritual lives.
So friends, let’s remember that God gave up His only son because He loved us boundlessly. Let's understand that it was Jesus's indescribable love for us that drove him to be willing to come down, and live life like a regular human being and get crucified. And that makes his feat the greatest showcase of love ever! And that showcase being HIS DEATH ON THE CROSS!
