Day 38 - From Better To Best

Focal Scripture: Mark 8:22-26

Hey everyone, my name is Bryan and welcome to Bible Scoop. Today, we jump into the book of Mark, its 8th chapter verses, 22-26. Let’s go. https://www.bible.com/bible/296/MRK.8.22-26

In this scripture, we see Jesus healing a man who was blind, but what’s interesting here is the fact that his healing happened in 2 parts. The first part was when Jesus spat on that person’s eyes and he could see but, he thought that the people walking around were trees, and the second part was when Jesus touched his eyes, after which he could see completely.

Now if we go to the deeper meanings of this Bible verse, we can see that God’s always got this way of testing our faith by teasing what’s to come, to see if we know to wait in faith for that thing to get to us. Allow me to explain.

This story could’ve gone two ways. When Jesus asked the man about the status of his eyesight after spitting on him initially, the man could’ve said ‘Yes, I can see, but not that clearly’ which he did. Or, he could’ve said ‘No, I don’t see at all.’ And because the man replied in the way mentioned first, Jesus was pleased and healed him fully.

In life, we experience similar situations. Situations where things start to look a little better, but we are never satisfied, we are always complaining about how it’s not entirely better, or at the best state. We always require things to be the way we require them to be. And anything less gets discarded, rejected and disrespected by us. We are never grateful for the moderate positive update to our condition or state. We always want that full goodness so bad, that we forget about the horrible state that we’re no longer in, thanks to the better state that we’re in.

So, friends from today onwards, let’s be content with and thankful for what’s been given to us. Also, remember to never stop asking God for what we need. But remember, to ask with a humility and love-filled heart, ask with all the politeness you can manage. And trust me when I say that in no time, your state will go, FROM BETTER TO BEST!
