Day 31 - Eyes On Christ

Focal Scripture: Matthew 14:22-33

Hey everyone, my name is Bryan and welcome to Bible Scoop. Today, dive into the book of Matthew, its 14th chapter verses, 22-33. Let’s go. https://www.bible.com/bible/296/MAT.14.GNBUK

In this scripture, we can see Peter getting frightened at the thought that a ghost was walking on the water toward him and his fellow apostles but in reality, it was Jesus. And, Jesus asks Peter to get out on the boat come to him by walking on the water. and Peter does, but when he notices the strong wind he becomes afraid, starts to lose faith and sinks. After that, Jesus tells Peter how little faith he has and then rescues Peter. From this scripture, we can take away the point that we are very much like Peter. Let me explain.

In life, we are often shaken by turbulence in the form of problems. On our path to Christ, we may get rattled by the many winds in life that come to us as problems. And we start to lose faith in the fact that Christ will make sure we get to him, that we will walk on water, that we will complete the journey and get to Christ. When the wind blows our way, we forget about all this and start sinking in doubt, and when this happens, both we and our spirituality start to sink.

So friends, on this day let's decide not to get intimidated by the many problems and troubles of life. Let's try and make sure that we're firmly seated on the idea that we will get to Jesus no matter what, and that he has given us the ability to walk on water for that to happen. So let's not look down at the water and think about the impossibility of walking on water, let's also not take note of the scary winds that threaten to blow us away. Instead, let's look straight at Christ and take note of the fact that it's our Lord that we're walking to and that he will never let us sink. So with firm faith, let's have our EYES ON CHRIST.
