Day 24 - A Loving And Merciful Father

Focal Scripture: Luke 15:11-24

Hello everyone, my name is Bryan and welcome to Bible Scoop. Today, we hop into the book of Luke, its 15th chapter, verses, 11-24. Let’s go. https://www.bible.com/bible/296/LUK.15.GNBUK

After we read this scripture, we can see that Jesus is not only telling this parable to the people there but also to us. If we go to the deeper meanings of this Bible verse/parable, Jesus is saying that God is a loving, forgiving and merciful father. Now, Jesus is referring to us as the lost son and Jesus is referring to God as the father.

Now, this parable is relevant to us. And here’s why, just as this son asked for his father’s property, sold it, and wasted that money, we ask God for blessings to be showered upon us, and after God does shower blessings on us we forget about God and turn away from Him, and after that, we run off and use these blessings for the wrong cause.

Now, after the son lost everything, he wanted to say sorry to his father. He decided to turn back to his father and understood the value of his previous life which he spent close to his father. And so, he decides to go back to his father and admit his mistakes, hoping that his father would take him back. And what do you know? He did just that. His father felt pity for him and ran to him after seeing him from a distance, embraced him, welcomed him home, and celebrated his return.

This is a very great set of moves to follow and take up as examples in life. Even if we are heavy sinners, all it takes to win God’s, our father’s favour back is a simple bag of willingness to return back and a heart filled with guilt, repentance, and humility.

So, friends from today onwards let’s not turn away from God upon receiving blessings and the things that we really want. And if we’re past that stage, and if we’ve turned away from God, let’s make our return to God while holding onto these qualities, willingness to return, guilt, repentance, and humility. Let’s also remind ourselves that our God is A LOVING AND MERCIFUL FATHER!
