Day 21 - The True Offering
Focal Scripture: Mark 12:41-44
Hey everyone, my name is Bryan and welcome to Bible Scoop. Today, we head into the book of Mark, its 12th chapter verses, 41-44. Let’s go. https://www.bible.com/bible/296/MRK.12.GNBUK
In this scripture, we can see that Jesus is noticing a widow’s offering while she puts her only money, 2 copper coins. Instead of noticing anyone else in this large crowd, Jesus notices this widow and says to his disciples, “I tell you that this poor widow put more in the offering box than all the others. For the others put in what they had to spare of their riches; but she, poor as she is, put in all she had — she gave all she had to live on.”
Now, if we go to the deeper meanings of this Bible verse, we can see that his scripture is teaching us a valuable lesson. So, this widow put into the offering box all that she had, which was a tiny amount of money. And Jesus did not say this to her, “This is not considered an offering, you have to put more money.” Let me explain why.
The reason why Jesus didn’t say this to her and why Jesus won’t say this to us too is because, God doesn’t exactly care about the amount of money being offered, but what does matter to God is the willingness we have to put in everything for God when we put an offering and the wholeheartedness when we offer this offering. Because money is of no use to God.
So friends, the next time we put in an offering, remember that it’s not about the amount of money we put in as an offering but the willingness to put in everything for God and the wholeheartedness when we put an offering. We should be able to show God that money comes second and that God always comes first. And that we’re willing to set everything aside, as He’s all that matters. And, after we do all of this, let’s have the satisfaction from having made THE TRUE OFFERING!
