Day 18 - A Humble Heart

 Focal Scripture: Luke 18:9-14

Hey everyone, my name is Bryan and welcome to Bible Scoop. Today, we dive into the book of Luke, its 18th chapter, verses 9-14. Let’s go. https://www.bible.com/bible/296/LUK.18.GNBUK

In this scripture, we can see that Jesus is telling a parable to people who were sure of their goodness and despised everybody else. There are two people that are being talked about here in this parable. A Pharisee and a tax collector. Jesus was talking about both their prayers and about how both of them differed.

The Pharisee prayed in a very cocky manner as he was sure that he was perfect in all that he did. Sure that he was not in the wrong at all. Completely free from sin. An angel who did all that God had asked.

But it’s really the tax collector whom we should look up to and follow. He prayed to God with a humble and guilty heart. He was out to repent for his sins. He was trying to win God’s forgiveness. He really had his heart open during his prayer. And this is what pleases God.

So, friends from today onwards, let’s not pray thinking that we’re in the clear and thinking that we’re pure. Instead, let’s pray to God with a humble heart every single day, in order that God almighty may answer our prayers. Let’s pray to God with A HUMBLE HEART!
