Day 16 - The Master's Return

  Focal Scripture: Luke 12:35-38

Hey everyone, my name is Bryan and welcome to Bible Scoop. Today, we head into the book of Luke, its 12th chapter, verses 35-38. Let’s go. https://www.bible.com/bible/296/LUK.12.GNBUK

In this scripture, we can hear Jesus telling us about watchful servants. And, when Jesus talks about watchful servants he means, “servants who are waiting for their master to come back from a wedding feast. When he comes and knocks, they will open the door for him at once. How happy are those servants whose master finds them awake and ready when he returns! I tell you, he will take off his coat, ask them to sit down, and will wait on them. How happy they are if he finds them ready, even if he should come at midnight or even later!”

Now, after we read this scripture, we can see that Jesus is teaching us what we have to do. Let me explain. The very first thing we have to understand is that, the “master” and the “servant” that Jesus is referring to is Jesus and us.

The lesson Jesus is teaching us through this scripture is that, we have to always wait for Jesus’s second coming with sincerity and anticipation all while doing what God requires us to do. Because, if we don’t do the things God requires us to do, God wouldn’t be happy.

Let’s talk about what God wants us to do. He wants us to, love our enemies, our brothers and our sisters, proclaim the Gospel, and tell people about the blessings and graces showered on us. And, when we do these simple and minor things we sure will make God super happy.

Oh and one more thing, we should be willing to wait. Even it takes seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years or decades for Jesus to come. Just like how the servant waited for the master. We should also humble ourselves in front of Jesus, like the servant who removed his master’s coat and asked him to sit down.

So friends, from today onwards let’s do what God requires us to do. Let’s be willing to wait for Jesus for as many years as it’s going to take. And, let’s wait for THE MASTER’S RETURN!
