Day 11 - Peaceful Goodness
Focal Scripture: Matthew 5:38-40
Hello everyone, my name is Bryan Anju Mathew and welcome to Bible Scoop. Today, we dive into the book of Matthew, its 5th chapter, verses 38-40. Let’s go. https://www.bible.com/bible/296/MAT.5.GNBUK
In this scripture, we can see Jesus telling us this, “we have heard in the past that it’s an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. And, even if people hit you on the right cheek, allow them to hit on the other. And, even if a person takes you to court to sue you for your shirt, let him take your coat as well.”
Now, we can think of three reasons as to why Jesus is asking us to do this. The first reason why Jesus asked us to do this is because God created us to be together and united, peacefully and happily. And, this won’t happen if we fight each other for revenge because God wants us to always stick together.
The second reason why Jesus asked us to do this is because, he loves us and he doesn't want us to do the bad thing. He always finds a way for us to do the right thing and in this case, this is the right thing.
The third reason why Jesus asked us to do this is because, God forgives every single person who is ungrateful and wicked to him (as said in Luke 6:35) so, as children of God, naturally, he would want us to follow him.
So, friends from today onwards, let’s let the person who slaps us on our right cheek slap the other. Let’s not take revenge on anyone and let’s stick together happily and in peace. Let’s follow God when it comes to forgiving those who are ungrateful and wicked to us. And, let’s do all of this for PEACEFUL GOODNESS!
